As we near the end of the first month of 2019, there is much to be thankful for in 2018 and much to look forward to in the year ahead. We are truly in awe of what the Lord accomplished in our little spheres of influence last year, and this year seems to be bristling with opportunities to see God’s Kingdom advance.
Most things in South Africa wind down in December, but not Scripture Union. Common Good/Zanokhanyo Network News
We apologize for the long gap since our last update. Since that time 2016 wrapped up and now we're well into 2017! At the beginning of the year 4 new trainers and interns were hired to help The Zanokhanyo Network (TZN) reach the goal of training 1000 people this year. Training trainers is a very intense process, but so far it seems like these 4 will be a great asset to the organization. Common Good/Zanokhanyo News
It's always amazing to look back over the time since our last newsletter to see how much the Lord has accomplished. In September we mentioned that we were hoping to start an external jobreadiness training course. In the past two months we have had 3 external training courses in 3 different communities. We also recently piloted a revised curriculum which the team has been working on for some time. The new curriculum was used at both training hubs and in Philippi township. The testimonies at each graduation continue to be incredible. Common Good/Zanokhanyo News
The past couple of months have been quite full. The Zanokhanyo Network is pushing hard to train as many people as possible before the end of the year. That means we often have three or more courses running simultaneously at the two training centers. We also hope to start external training at a church later this month. At each graduation students share about how much the course has impacted their lives, and they urge us to continue reaching out to the communities. At the most recent graduation the class participants put on a play in which half of the actors were working to recruit the other half to join the training instead of wasting their lives in bars and clubs. The "recruiters" told the others to "join Zanokhanyo; it will change your life!" |
