The New Year has started out in many ways just like the old year finished. In South Africa, we are in the middle of another lockdown that will likely last until February 15th--depending on how things go. Our infection rates are down, but schools are closed and there is a 9pm curfew in place, so our mobility and opportunities to gather are quite restricted. It is not a great start to the year, but it is what we have.
For Scripture Union South Africa, it means we are waiting for schools to open so we can meet with kids 'in person' again. Online engagements are helpful, but most of the country has little access to the digital world, so we wait. But we have been busy exploring a few new 'funding' options that we think are pretty exciting. The Reach Africa website has just launched branded clothing and accessories that are pretty 'lekker' (cool). Not only can you purchase quality clothing for a reasonable price, but every purchase supports our mission. Definitely Win-Win!
